The best timing for salseras to style! On1 & on2 breakdown.

After years of watching salseros and salseras, it has become obvious to me when is a great timing for girls to style and look sexy.

If you dance on2, your moment of shine is the 1 and the 5 beats. Why? Because that's when the girl prepares to execute the 2-3 & 6-7 sequence. Think about it for a moment. The on2 breakdown is as follows: 1-2-3 & 5-6-7 Note that i've highlighted 2 and 6 as being the girls time to break. The 2-3 and 6-7 steps are usually faster, that's where you actually execute whatever step you're lead to. The 1 and 5 beats are the longest, hence this is exactly where you can style. Think of the simple cross body lead on2. Just when the guy leads the girl to the cross body lead, a slight push on the back on the 1 beat, the girl poses for a second before breaking and executing the cross body on 2-3 or 6-7. The sexiest moment for the girl would be that second where she prepares to lead into the move. It's a tiny moment but watch an on2 couple and you'll visualize it better.

For on1 dancers, it's obviously a different timing pattern. The break is on 1 and 5. The longest beats are the 3 and 7. The best timing for the girl to show off here is the 2-3 and 6-7 beats as she prepares for the next lead on the 5 and 1 beats. On the 2-3 and 6-7 the girl changes her body weight from one side to another quickly, hence throwing her hip in a sexy way to balance the lead and prepares to execute the 5 and 1 beats. That's the best time to style and look sexy Smile

There is no science to this of course, you can look great on whatever beat and in whatever fashion you like. But just remember that the longer the beat holds or whenever you're changing your body weight you have a tiny opportunity there to look sexy and show off some cuteness.

Post your comments below if you wanna discuss more in-depth styling patterns you've discovered.
